PAF No 26 Squadron

Renowned Pilot MM Alam commanded No 26 Squadron
No 26 Squadron was formed on 30th August, 1067 with F-86 Sabre Aircraft, initially to act as Operational Conversion Unit(OCU) for F-86s. Beside PAF Pilots, the Squadron has trained pilots from various friendly countries as well. During 1971 war, the Squadron flew over 300 sorties and its pilots shot down three enemy aircraft. The Squadron also has the honor to be commanded by the world renowned ace pilot MM Alam in 1972. In December 1980, the Squadron was re-equipped with F-6 aircraft, after 4 years F-6s were replaced with A-5-III aircraft. In April 2011, No 26 Squadron became the first Squadron to be re-equipped with JF-17 Thunder aircraft.
