PAF No 14 Squadron

No 14 Squadron known as "Tail Choppers" was raised on 01 November 1948 with a task to convert and train pilots on Tempest, Fury, Auster, and Harvard aircraft. The Squadron was re-equipped with F-86 Sabres in 1956 and later operated F-6s, F-16s and is now operating F-7P aircraft. During 1965 and 1971 wars, the Squadron valiantly defended the eastern skies of Pakistan and its pilots exhibited great courage and exceptional flying skills. The Squadron pilots have been decorated with eight Sitara-e-Jurat till date.

PAF No 5 Squadron

No 5 Tactical Attack and Reconnaissance Squadron was raised on 15 August 1947 with Hawker Tempest Mk-II aircraft. The Squadron has operated Hawker Fury, Fighter Bomber FB-60, T-61 Fury, Tempest-II, F-86F Sabres (1955), Mirages (1968) and F-16 C/D Block 52 (2011). The Squadron pilots achieved eight aerial kills in 1965 war and four in 1071 war. No 5 Squadron is credited with six gallantry awards including one Hilal-e-Jurat to Sarfraz Rafiqui and five Sitara-i-Jurat to Sarfaraz Rafiqui, Younus Hasan, Cecil Chaudhary and AH Malik.

PAF No 26 Squadron

No 26 Squadron was formed on 30th August, 1067 with F-86 Sabre Aircraft, initially to act as Operational Conversion Unit(OCU) for F-86s. Beside PAF Pilots, the Squadron has trained pilots from various friendly countries as well. During 1971 war, the Squadron flew over 300 sorties and its pilots shot down three enemy aircraft. The Squadron also has the honor to be commanded by the world renowned ace pilot MM Alam in 1972. In December 1980, the Squadron was re-equipped with F-6 aircraft, after 4 years F-6s were replaced with A-5-III aircraft. In April 2011, No 26 Squadron became the first Squadron to be re-equipped with JF-17 Thunder aircraft.

PAF No 2 Squadron

No 2 Squadron was formed on 1st June 1956 wutg T-33A aircraft for the Jet Conversion Training to the newly graduated pilots. During 1965 and 1971 wars, the Squadron  pilots carried out day and night Surface Attacks on enemy convoys and also provided Close Air Support to Pakistan Army. In August 1982, the Squadron received B-57 Bombers and this became a composite Squadron. On 30 August 1990, the Squadron was re-equipped with F-7P fighter aircraft. Pilot Officer Rashid Minhaas Shaheed of No 2 was awarded with Nishan-e-Haider.
